Alan Turing (1912 - 1954)

Alan Turing was an English computer scientist as well as a mathematician, he is well known for the creation of the Bombe. Bombe was the name for the electro mechanical machine which was created in 1939. The purpose of this machine was to help break the Engima codes which were used as a form of communication by the German army. His idea behind this machine was to created a 'universal machine' which would be able to solve and break codes used as a form of 'secret' communication.

 He is now known as the founder of modern computing due to his discovery which was made many years ago. Unfortunately due to the time in which he was around his skills weren't appreciated because of his sexuality.
